Life Clock: Because Every Minute Counts

INVENTION IDEAS : Life Clock

If you are particular with your age, then this clock is a tool that you will either appreciate or hate as the years go by. The Life Clock by Bertrand Planes, may just be an ordinary clock at first glance, but when you'll look closely, you'll notice that the numbers are high. That's because one rotation of the Life Clock is equal to the average lifespan of humans. It's slowed down 61320 times so that each minute equals a year.

Everybody has their own reaction seeing their life on a clock. Others might feel that it's hands are moving too fast, others may think it's too slow. For those who are age-conscious, this might be kind of depressing to look at. Nevertheless, it can be a good reminder that life is too short, and therefore, we should make every minute count.

Bacon Alarm Clock: Wake Up To The Smell Of Bacon

INVENTION IDEAS : Bacon Alarm Clock

I love the idea of this bacon alarm clock. Unless you're a morning person, chances are, you hate waking up to the sound of the alarm clock ringing in morning when all you want to do is to curl back up in bed and sleep, am I right? But what if instead of the ringing, you will wake up to the sweet smell of bacon? Would that motivate you better to get up?

Invention ideas like these incorporate a really innovative concept. After all, the smell of breakfast can be a good motivator to wake up. So how does it work? You place a frozen strip of bacon into it the night before, then when the alarm goes off in the morning, the bacon is already cooked and smelling wonderfully. Two halogen lamps slow-cook the bacon for 10 minutes, and when it's cooked, it wakes you up with a smell that is mouth-watering, it's hard to resist it. Now, how could you go back to sleep when you're stomach is already grumbling?

The Thumbnail Watch: Yay Or Nay?

INVENTION IDEAS : TX54 Watch

Watches may no longer be in demand and popular nowadays, at least not as popular as they were before the advent of cellphones. Today, people no longer find it necessary to wear a watch because their cellphones can tell them the time too. That's why watch companies have to come up with new invention ideas to make watches even more interesting.

In line with this, TIMEX teamed up with Core77, and they did a global design contest called Timex 2154: The Future of Time Design. One concept design that's really interesting is the TX54. It is a unique watch, designed to be worn on your thumbnail, which stays clear unless you activate it. You can activate it by pressing the end of your thumbnail. With it, you can tell the time just with a quick glance at your hand. It's an interesting concept, no doubt. But I don't think it's very practical. I mean, would you actually buy one of these? If you bite your nails habitually, then this is probably not the watch for you.
